Was Baja Earthquake A Warning of Something Greater?

A Warning of Something Greater?

According to many, there was something different about the 7.2 earthquake that struck the California-Mexico border on Easter Sunday. This earthquake appeared to strike with a fury, shaking an entire mountain range as seen and recorded on video by several witnesses. Then there were the reports of houses actually sinking near the epicenter as water rose around them.

Over the next few days many residents began leaving the area saying that the shock of witnessing such an event was so great they could not live or return to the towns they once called home. One of the most frightening aspects that many residents spoke about was the water that came up through the ground through fissures and cracks. Yes, some was from broken pipes and canals, but that is not what seemed to alarm the residents. What alarmed many was that in some areas it appeared to be salt water that was coming up through the cracks. If so, it truly indicates the lateness of the hour.

I have added a few news links and videos below and will continue to add more as they become available.

William Branham prophesied that in the last days Los Angeles, originally named El Pueblo de la Reina de Los Angeles (The Town of the Queen of the Angels) would be cast down and and one day lay at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. Could the recent Baja Quake on Easter Sunday be a warning of something greater?

That is solemn warning. We don’t know what time, and you don’t know what time, that this city one day is going to be laying out here in the bottom of this ocean.

“Oh, Capernaum,” said Jesus, “thou who exalted into heaven, will be brought down into hell. For, if the mighty works had been done in Sodom and Gomorrah, it’d have been standing to this day.” And Sodom, Gomorrah lays in the bottom of the Dead Sea. And Capernaum is in the bottom of the sea.

Thou city, who claims to be the city of the Angels, who has exalted yourself into heaven, and sent all the dirty, filthy things of fashions and things, till even the foreign countries come here to pick up our filth and send it away, to your fine churches and steeples, and so forth, the way you do. Remember, one day you’ll be laying in the bottom of the sea, your great honeycomb under you right now. The wrath of God is belching right beneath you. How much longer He will hold this sandbar hanging out over that? When, that ocean out yonder, a mile deep, will slide in there, plumb back to the Salton Sea. It’ll be worse than the last day of Pompeii. Repent, Los Angeles.

Repent, the rest of you, and turn to God. The hour of His wrath is upon the earth. Flee while there’s time to flee, and come into Christ.

California is Still Shaking…. But Why? Article from The LA Tiimes April 12th, 2010

If you’ve been feeling more shaking this year, it’s not your imagination.

The number of earthquakes greater than magnitude 4.0 in Southern California and Baja California has increased significantly in 2010. There have been 70 such quakes so far this year, the most of any year in the last decade. And it’s only April. There were 30 in 2009 and 29 in 2008.

Seismologists said they are studying the uptick but cannot fully explain it. Major earthquakes tend to occur in cycles, and experts have said the region in recent years has been in a quiet cycle when it comes to sizable temblors.

The string of quakes this year raises the possibility that Southern California might again be entering a more active seismic period. Scientists said the increase does not mean the Big One is any more imminent, but it could mean more significant quakes are on the way.

Quotes from various blogs

One man was being interviewed in the hospital in Mexico where he had taken his pregnant fiancee. He said they were at a BBQ and the ground just opened up in front of them and “get this” water started bubbling up from the ground. He said “I still can’t talk about it, it was the most frightening thing you could imagine. If you don’t have religion something like this will give it to you.”

Another man said: Throughout the day have been feeling the aftershocks of this earthquake of 7.2 By elements of civil protection, we learned that in an ejido mexicali 60km from the earth opened and now this land flowing salt water … I do not think it AGUA DE MAR … ie .. this is the beginning of something even greater … is the beginning of something historic maybe .. God forbid that anything great !!… cuidence much, extreme caution .. and I would recommend leaving this area a safer place. Remain calm and entrust ourselves to God. Let us seek his grace and mercy. The only one who can not get rid of all evil.

Houses Sank As Water Rose Around Them

A firefighter at a station just outside Mexicali told the Los Angeles Times that fires caused by the quake destroyed at least six homes after damaging propane tanks and severing electricity lines.

Several homes near the Cerro Prieto volcano some 31km from the quake’s epicentre sank into the ground as water rose around them, according to the firefighter, Oscar Silas.

US and Mexican seismological services said the quake, which struck at 3.40pm (0840 AEST), was shallow with a depth of just 10km. It was centred 26 kilometres southwest of Guadalupe Victoria in Baja California.

Among dozens of reported aftershocks, at least three were strong ones, including a magnitude 5.4 temblor that struck near Guadalupe Victoria, southeast of Mexicali, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The Shaking In California Hasn’t Stopped

The shaking hasn’t stopped after a 7.2 earthquake rattled the U.S. and Mexico Easter Sunday. Yesterday around 2 a.m. local time, a respectable 4.5 quake rattled San Diego, which was followed by more than a dozen Richter 3’s in the same area.

The most events I can ever recall for the U.S. was 1,482 on May 3, 2008. Normally the USGS registers around 700-800 events in America that show on the US maps. This includes all quakes occurring in Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico. There’s a lot of real estate where quakes can shake.

Maps start to look interesting when they hit 1,100 shakes. Aftershocks from the Easter quake have rocketed this tally way beyond anything we’ve experienced in recent years. U.S. quakes are approaching the 4,000 ground breaking benchmark.

When you click the map on the right, you can read the number of quake events both for the Cal-Nevada area as well as the U.S. total. Over 3,700 quakes have hit the U.S in the last week. Of those, these areas account for 161 shakes: Puerto Rico – 37, Hawaii – 7, and Alaska – 117. Another 285 are scattered throughout Washington, Yellowstone/Montana, Utah and in a “smiley face” across New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri. That leaves the vast majority – over 3,270 – pummeling California. That is mighty!
