A Christian minister who has spent time in jail because of a state “hate crimes” law is warning that the federal legislation, now pending on President Obama’s desk, is “one of the most dangerous pieces of federal legislation in the history of our nation.”
The comment comes from Michael Marcavage of Repent America. He was among a group that became known as the “Philadelphia 11″ that made national headlines in 2004.
That was when the Christians, ministering at a homosexual festival, were accused under a state “hate crimes” law.
[...]
The bill, H.R. 2647, the National Defense Authorization Act, include the “hate crimes” plan that “expands criminal penalties against anyone who harms an individual based on ‘gender identity’ or ’sexual orientation,’ thus posing a serious threat to biblical evangelism and active stances against the sin of homosexuality’.
Regulatory Czar Urges Abolish Sanctioning of Marriage

The U.S. government should abolish its sanctioning of marriage, argued Cass Sunstein, President Obama’s regulatory czar.
Sunstein proposed that the concept of marriage should become privatized, with the state only granting civil union contracts to couples wishing to enter into an agreement.
Sunstein explained marriage licensing is unnecessary, pointing out people stay committed to organizations like country clubs and homeowner associations without any government interference.
“Under our proposal, the word marriage would no longer appear in any laws, and marriage licenses would no longer be offered or recognized by any level of government,” wrote Sunstein and co-author Richard Thaler in their 2008 book, “Nudge: Improving decisions about health, wealth and happiness.”

US President Barack Obama has said he will end the ban on gay people serving openly in the military. He said he would repeal the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy that allows gay people to serve in the military if they do not reveal their sexual orientation.
Mr Obama was speaking to America’s largest gay group – the Human Rights Campaign – in Washington.
He had been criticized by some in the gay community for the lack of action on gay marriage and the military issue.
Plans to Change the Way Americans Think about Sex

Life Site News reports a San Francisco sex group’s four-year strategic plan, aimed to “change the way Americans think about sex” by desensitizing mainstream American culture to aberrant sexual practices, has been leaked.
According to Lifes Sites report, the document reveals a well thought out strategy to acclimatize the American public to everything from the practice of sadomasochism to orgies and every other “consensual” sexual behavior besides.
“CSC will be taking the lead in framing the sex positive discourse in our culture,” writes the Center for Sex and Culture in its 2007-2011 strategic plan. “In this ambitious vision of the future, certainly more than five years distant, CSC will have accomplished the difficult task of changing the way Americans think about sex.
“People will feel more comfortable with their sexual desires and society at large will be more accepting of a wide range of attitudes regarding sexuality.”
CSC says its mission is “to provide non-judgmental, sex-positive sexuality education and support to diverse populations” by means of educational initiatives that include “hands-on, practical skills-building events.” The group currently offers several workshops related to homosexual and sadomasochistic sex, and other “non-mainstream sexualities,” and advertises other monthly activities we will not go into detail on here.
CSC’s goals in advancing the “sex positive revolution” include a comprehensive plan to expand the group via marketing, the formation of regional and national partnerships with local groups, as well as the development of a “sex positive” curriculum that would “appeal to both professionals and lay-persons.” In addition, the group says it plans to launch a formal internship program to “add legitimacy to CSC in the academic world,” and expressed interest in instigating a “Sexual Attitude Reassessment” program.

Congress Expanding ‘Gay’ Protections In Classrooms

A new proposal in Congress would allow public school students to be disciplined for “bullying” for “perceiving” a slight over someone’s sexual orientation or gender identity, and in one case where such a program already has been implemented, it is being used to exclude parents from any input into what their children are taught about homosexuality and bisexuality.
The proposal is H.R. 2262, which was introduced in May by Rep. Linda Sanchez, D-Calif., just about the time Kevin Jennings, the founder of the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network which promotes homosexuality in schools, was appointed to head the office of school safety in President Obama’s administration.
The alarms are being raised by organizations such as Americans for Truth and the Illinois Family Institute, where Laurie Higgins warned about the impact of the plan.
UK – 80% Think It’s Ok To Steal From Work

Four out of five people see nothing wrong with stealing from their workplace – while more than half think it acceptable for a carer to persuade an elderly person to rewrite their will, according to a new study.
The fascinating insight into Britain’s ‘moral compass’ also found that one in three people have downloaded music illegally and 13 per cent have shoplifted.
The findings, from an online study of more than 15,000 people, suggest that the typical Briton is less honest and more confused than most people realise.
It also shows that the concept of honesty varies hugely from person to person.
Eight of 10 people who took part in the survey said it was dishonest for a woman to wear a dress for a party before returning it to the shop for a refund.
But only 43 per cent believed it was dishonest for a carer to try to persuade an elderly person to leave them something after their death.
The authors of the study commissioned for the British Science Festival in Guildford say the findings raise disturbing questions.
Dr Stefan Fafinski of Brunel University said: ‘The law is base upon an assumption that the majority of people in society hold the same views about what conduct is dishonest.
‘Our research challenges that assumption as we found that there is a great deal of disagreement among people even upon very basic situations such as finding money in the street or taking stationery home from work.’

A homosexual man is suing a third national Bible publisher for “mental anguish” after he says the company published Bibles with a negative connotation toward homosexuals.
Bradley LaShawn Fowler of Canton, Mich., alleges William Tyndale Publishing manipulated Scripture when it published Tyndale’s New Living Translation Holy Bible and the New Life ApplicationStudy Bible by using the term “homosexuals” in a New Testament passage, 1 Corinthians 6:9.
“One Bible dictates homosexuals will not inherit the Kingdom of God, while the other is completely void on the issue altogether,” Fowler wrote in a statement on his blog.

A lawsuit in California that was filed last month by angry parents who object to a gay-friendly curriculum they say is being foisted on kindergartners could well become a test case for schools around the country.Parents in the Alameda Unified School District were refused the right to excuse their kids from classes that would teach all kids in the district’s elementary schools about gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender alternative families.
The parents say they are concerned about “indoctrination” in the schools, but administrators say the course is needed to protect against sexual discrimination — and that the lessons are protected by laws in California and 10 other states. Those states, which stretch from Washington to Maine, will now be eyeing the court results in California in a case that warring sides say pits parents’ rights against a schools’ responsibilities.
To learn more about controversial teachings in school tune in to a FOX News Reporting special, “Do You Know What Textbooks Your Children Are Really Reading?” which premieres Friday, Sept. 4 at 9 p.m. EDT. The kindergartners will focus on the harms of teasing, while the fifth graders will study sexual orientation stereotypes.
Ben & Jerry’s Renames Ice Cream to Support Gay Marriage

Vermont ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s has temporarily renamed their popular “Chubby Hubby” ice cream to “Hubby Hubby” to show the company’s support for the legalization of same-sex “marriage” in the state.
On September 1 same-sex “marriages” began to be performed in Vermont after the state legally redefined marriage to include homosexuals last April.
The repackaged ice cream tub features a caricature of two men getting “married” and will be available only in Vermont during September, after which the packaging will return to normal.
A press release states that the company has partnered with Freedom to Marry, a homosexual rights group, “to raise awareness of the importance of marriage equality and to encourage other states to follow the blazing trails of Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, and Maine.”
“The legalization of marriage for gay and lesbian couples in Vermont is certainly a step in the right direction, and something worth celebrating with peace, love – and plenty of ice cream,” said Ben & Jerry’s CEO Walt Freese.
Ben and Jerry’s has a reputation for social activism and publicity stunts since being founded by two former hippies in Burlington, Vermont in 1978, and has maintained its promotion of homosexuality under the guise of “equal rights for all people” since the company was bought by food giant Unilever in 2000.
“From the very beginning of our 30 year history, we have supported equal rights for all people,” Freese said in the press release.
Study Finds Tiny Traces of Cocaine on 90% of U.S. Dollars

Chances are there’s cocaine in your wallet. Researchers looked at 234 bank notes from the U.S. and found that 90 percent had small traces of the illegal drug. Bills from larger cities, such as Baltimore, Boston and Detroit, were among those with the highest average cocaine levels. Salt Lake City had the lowest. Most of those analyzed from Washington had tiny amounts of cocaine.
In some large US cities evidence of “dirty money” is even stronger. Analysis of bank notes from Washington DC showed that 95 per cent of them carried minute amounts of the class A drug.
The study was the biggest ever undertaken of cocaine contamination of bank notes.
Paper money can pick up cocaine particles directly from users snorting the drug through rolled up bills, or from the handling of cash during drug deals.
Contamination can spread when bills are stacked together or run through counting machines.
Scientists tested bank notes from more than 30 cities in the US, Canada, Brazil, China and Japan.
They found “alarming” evidence of cocaine contamination in many areas. The US and Canada had the highest levels, with an average contamination rate of between 85 per cent and 90 per cent. China and Japan had the lowest rates of 20 per cent and 12 per cent.

Obama Comes Down On DOMA

A pro-family leader says the Obama administration is playing dishonest “Chicago-style politics” by defending the Defense of Marriage Act while undermining the law in a court filing.
The Obama Justice Department today filed court papers claiming the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act discriminates against homosexuals. In the meantime, the DOJ lawyers are seeking to dismiss a suit brought by a homosexual California couple challenging DOMA. (See Associated Press story below)
Gary Bauer 1Gary Bauer, president of American Values, says President Obama is committed to repealing DOMA — but does not want to take the political flak that would come along with it.
“What the White House wants is for a court to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act so that the White House and the president don’t have to take the political damage for undermining a law that protects normal marriage,” he explains.
Bauer argues Obama is contradicting a campaign pledge. “President Obama ran promising he would be open and transparent, and no longer practice the usual politics of Washington, DC,” he notes. “Millions of people voted for him because they thought he would be more honest and more open in the way he governed.”
According to Bauer, that is not happening. “What we’re seeing here is something more reminiscent of the way they do politics in the wards of Chicago — saying one thing and then doing something else behind the scenes,” he states.
Liberal Media Bias Continues Unchecked

A conservative media watchdog finds it outrageous that the media is not calling Democrats to task for characterizing Americans who are exercising their First Amendment rights as Nazis and mobsters.
The Media Research Center MRC says liberals are not only grasping at straws of desperation to protect the radical government takeover of the nation’s healthcare system, but they have also crossed into unabashed hate speech.
The MRC points out that recently the Democratic National Committee launched a web video charging “desperate Republicans and their well-funded allies with organizing angry mobs to destroy President Obama.” Then shortly thereafter House Speaker Pelosi accused town hall protestors of “carrying swastikas.”

Charter School’s Use of Bible Ignites Firestorm

A new charter school planning to open this fall in Idaho has come under fire since it publicly announced one of the textbooks students will be using is the Bible.
Unlike a typical public school, the Nampa Classical Academy has the freedom under Idaho’s Public Charter School Commission to develop its own curriculum. Students will be taught, for example, Latin and Western civilization, but it’s the school’s choice to use the Bible as a historical and literary text that has ignited a public firestorm.
At a meeting of the Public Charter School Commission, parents stood and argued for and against allowing the Bible to be used in the school.
The American Civil Liberties Union plans to launch an investigation.
“Our main concern is the separation of church and state and that the state is not funding or endorsing a specific religion,” Monica Hopkins, director of the ACLU of Idaho told the Idaho Press-Tribune.
The Public Charter School Commission has directed staff to review the legality of using the Bible in charter schools.
Even Idaho’s Deputy Attorney General Jennifer Swartz, according to the Press-Tribune, has raised concerns that the Bible – even if it used in a purely secular manner – may not be allowed in the classroom under the Idaho Constitution.

Abortion Mandate Slipped Into Obama Healthcare Bill

At a committee hearing last week, Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski, Maryland Democrat, provided a classic example of a morally bankrupt legislator seeking to insidiously force Americans to cooperate with and fund an objectively evil cause.
On July 9, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee met to consider amendments to the legislation it is drafting to rearrange the entire U.S. health care system. While chairing the hearing, Miss Mikulski offered an obscurely worded, two-part amendment.
The first part required literally all health insurance companies in America to provide unspecified “preventive care and screenings” for “pregnant women and individuals of child-bearing age.” The specific services involved would be determined later in guidelines approved by a federal agency called the Health Resources and Services Administration.
This part of the amendment said: “A group health plan and a health insurance issuer offering group or individual health insurance coverage shall provide coverage for, and shall not impose any cost-sharing requirements (other than minimal cost-sharing in accordance with guidelines developed by the secretary) for, with respect to women (including pregnant women and individuals of childbearing age), such additional preventive care and screenings not covered under section 2708 as provided for in guidelines supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration.”
