Pastor Admits Stealing Credit Card Info From Parishioners

The former pastor of a Northumberland County church acknowledges using parishioners’ personal information to obtain credit cards.
The Rev. Raymond Clayton pleaded guilty Monday in federal court in Williamsport to a charge of access device fraud. He awaits sentencing in June. The 43-year-old Clayton is the former pastor of Grace Fellowship Church near Mount Carmel.
Following the plea, 83-year-old church member Patricia Tomedi said, “Thank God.” Tomedi says she’s lost 20 pounds since Clayton was charged with stealing church members’ identities. Her’s was one of the Social Security numbers he used.
Clayton’s attorney, Assistant Public Defender Toni Byrd, has negotiated a plea agreement promising full restitution and calling for one year and one day in jail.
The church has since disbanded.

JuicyCampus.com Gossip Website Targeted

The anonymous gossip site JuicyCampus.com is spreading “malignant and malicious falsehoods” about Yale University students on its message board, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal charged Friday.
A lawyer for Yale said Friday the university supports the attorney general. Blumenthal announced an investigation into the Los Angeles-based social-networking operation that could lead to civil charges against Juicycampus.com under the state’s consumer protection law.
He said the site is fostering a wide variety of hate speech and appears to be operating in a manner that breaks its own rules of usage.
“JuicyCampus.com is different from other social-networking sites because of its absolute guarantee of anonymity and its refusal to provide information about people who post hateful, slanderous, abusive and offensive speech,” Blumenthal said. “This Web site is filled with insults, taunts, slander based on race, gender, religion. It is filled with comments that are homophobic and anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic.”
Blumenthal said that Yale officials are supporting his investigation, which is collaborating with New Jersey officials and other universities.
“Essentially what we’re investigating is this Web site’s failure to follow and enforce its own guarantees and promises to the public,” Blumenthal said.
Day of Silence - Parents Urged To Boycott Day Promoting Homosexuality

What if homosexuals staged a huge promotion of that sexual lifestyle choice, and no one came to see it? That’s exactly what a coalition of organizations is proposing for April 25, this year’s “Day of Silence,” which is sponsored in public schools across the nation to promote homosexuality.
“It’s outrageous that our neighborhood schools would allow homosexual activism to intrude into the classroom,” said Buddy Smith of the American Family Association, one of a long list of organizations asking parents to keep their students home from school on that day.
“‘Day of Silence’ is about coercing students to repudiate traditional morality. It’s time for Christian parents to draw the line – if your children will be exposed to this DOS propaganda in their school, then keep them home for the day,” he said.
The “Day of Silence” promotion is intended, ostensibly, to make students “aware” of the “discrimination” suffered by homosexuals in society, by having students remain silent for the day. Such events typically are organized by a school’s “Gay-Straight Alliance” group, but the event has been promoted for its previous 11 years by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, an organization with the agenda of establishing homosexual advocacy organizations such as GSAs in all schools in the nation.

In an era when evangelical ministers are endorsing pro-abortion candidates and an Episcopal bishop is marrying his gay lover, I guess it is no surprise that our own charismatic church leaders are sending out confusing signals about morality these days. It seems that in 2008, up is down, right is wrong and biblical absolutes are up for grabs.
This is especially true when it comes to marriage, an institution that once was considered sacred by all Christians. Nowadays, many preachers and even famous evangelical authors have created a new trend: Throwaway wedding vows. Christian divorce today is cheap, easy and not that much more expensive than a facelift. And some of our superstar preachers have figured out a way to use Bible verses to support their moral failures.
Top Psychiatrist Concludes Liberals Are Suffering From Mental Disorder

Just when liberals thought it was safe to start identifying themselves as such, an acclaimed, veteran psychiatrist is making the case that the ideology motivating them is actually a mental disorder.
“Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded,” says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, “The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness.” “Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave.”
While political activists on the other side of the spectrum have made similar observations, Rossiter boasts professional credentials and a life virtually free of activism and links to “the vast right-wing conspiracy.”
For more than 35 years he has diagnosed and treated more than 1,500 patients as a board-certified clinical psychiatrist and examined more than 2,700 civil and criminal cases as a board-certified forensic psychiatrist. He received his medical and psychiatric training at the University of Chicago.
Rossiter says the kind of liberalism being displayed by the two major candidates for the Democratic Party presidential nomination can only be understood as a psychological disorder.
Homosexual Group Says Restaurant Discriminated In Violation of New Laws

Even by the standards of Blackpool on a Saturday night, they must have been a sight to behold - nine gay men and transsexuals, several wearing women’s clothing.
The men were, it seems safe to say, a broad-minded bunch. They are, however, unlikely to say the same of staff at Pizza Hut.
When the group asked for a table, they claim they found themselves rapidly back out on the street.
Michael Kemp, 48, who was wearing a miniskirt and other female attire, said: “When we arrived at the Pizza Hut, we noticed people were staring at us and laughing.
“A male member of staff approached us with a big smirk on his face and, when we asked for a table, he told us that the restaurant had run out of pizzas and told us to try somewhere else.
“We couldn’t believe it. Who’s ever heard of a Pizza Hut running out of pizzas? It was clear they were embarrassed by us, especially because some of us were wearing women’s clothing, and didn’t want us in the restaurant.”
Now Mr Kemp, Paul Barnabas, 47, and his partner Iain Buck, 38, are claiming up to £3,000 compensation from the worldwide chain, saying they were discriminated against because of their sexuality.
Their brief encounter with Pizza Hut staff came last summer, shortly after it became illegal for shops, bars or restaurants to refuse to serve anyone because of their sexuality.
Their claim, which is being funded by the Equality and Human Rights Commission, is thought to be the first under the legislation.
Mr Kemp, a gardener and flower arrangement demonstrator, is a member of Encompass - a group for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual men and women in Flintshire.
He said they were enjoying a weekend away when they decided to go to Pizza Hut in Church Street, Blackpool, at around 6pm. Some of the men, who were transsexuals, were wearing dresses or short skirts, women’s underwear and high heels.
Mr Kemp said: “None of us had been drinking. I suppose we did look a bit odd, but no worse than any of the hen and stag parties that visit Blackpool every weekend.
“We felt humiliated, shocked and down-trodden by being refused a table. I’m not a gay activist, but I believe it is important people aren’t discriminated against simply because of their private life.
“If this restaurant had turned away a group of black men, there would have been an outcry.”
A spokesperson for Pizza Hut said: “We find discrimination of any kind completely unacceptable and are taking this allegation extremely seriously.
“Unfortunately, we are unable to comment further as this matter has been passed to our solicitors.”

Police: 4 Witnessed Beating One Recorded Attack

Four classmates witnessed a beating that left a 16-year-old boy dead, and one of them recorded the incident on his cell phone, authorities said.
Investigators confiscated the cell phone as evidence, police said.
Dakota DeRemus, a sophomore at Gardner Edgerton High School, suffered from a heart condition and died after he was involved in a fight with another 16-year-old boy on Monday.
Juvenile authorities charged that 16-year-old with involuntary manslaughter in connection with DeRemus’ death.

Immediately after the proceeding, both families declined to comment, but later, DeRemus’ family issued a statement.
They then spoke out on Thursday, expressing their anger and grief.
DeRemus’ grandmother, Rosella Davis, read from a written statement.

Police said they had identified the four witnesses and were discussing the matter with the Johnson County district attorney’s office, and additional charges could be filed in the case.
The process wasn’t working quickly enough for DeRemus’ father.
“You’re no more than a murderer yourself when you’re a witness to something like that and you let somebody die because you’re afraid you’ll get in a little bit of trouble and get grounded. I think it’s sick. I will miss Dakota for the rest of my life. I hurt for my boy. I hurt for my family. We were very, very close, and I now I have an empty spot in my life that will never be filled,” said Scott DeRemus.
No More Mum and Dad In UK Schools

Teachers should not assume that their pupils have a “mum and dad” under guidance aimed at tackling anti-gay bullying in schools.
It says primary pupils as young as four should be familiarized with the idea of same-sex couples to help combat homophobic attitudes.
Teachers should attempt to avoid assumptions that pupils will have a conventional family background, it urges.

It goes on to suggest the word “parents” may be more appropriate than “mum and dad”, particularly in letters and emails to the child’s home.
When discussing marriage with secondary pupils, teachers should also educate pupils about civil partnerships and gay adoption rights.
The guidance - produced for the Government by gay rights group Stonewall - will be formally launched today by Schools Secretary Ed Balls.
It states that children who call classmates “gay” should be treated the same as racists as part of a “zero tolerance” crackdown on the use of the word as an insult.
Teachers should avoid telling boys to “be a man” or accuse them of behaving like a “bunch of women”.
This sort of rebuke “leads to bullying of those who do not conform to fixed ideas about gender”, the guidance states.
At the same time, schools should encourage gay role models among staff, parents and governors. Homosexual staff should be able to discuss their private lives after the consultation with the head teacher.
Mexico City Introduces Women-Only Buses to Deter Groping

Groping and verbal harassment is an exasperating reality for women using public transportation in this sprawling capital, where 22 million passengers cram onto subways and buses each day. Some men treat women so badly that the subway system has long had ladies-only cars during rush hour, with police segregating the sexes on the platforms.
But that hasn’t helped women forced to rely on packed buses, by far the city’s most-used form of public transportation — until this week.
Acting on complaints from women’s groups, the city rolled out “ladies only” buses, complete with pink signs in the windshields to wave off the men.
As word spreads about the buses, the women seem delighted, while some men forced to wait a few minutes longer have shown their anger. Still others have stumbled on board despite the signs, much to their embarrassment.
On Thursday, passengers on one of the female-only buses spent most of their trip down the capital’s tree-lined Reforma Avenue chatting or putting on makeup, instead of fighting off unwanted male attention.
When a man mistakenly climbed aboard, the women immediately began teasing him and shouting that he should read the “ladies only” sign.
“He’s a gentleman! He should get off,” shouted Yolanda Altamirano, a 64-year-old office janitor.
Parent Angry Over Movies Allegedly Shown At High School

Justin’s son told him he had watched about 46 hours of movies in various classes since October. Several of the movies were rated R, he said.
Movies that students at Luther allegedly watched included “Saving Private Ryan,” “Dodgeball,” “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Spider Man 3.”"We went probably a month and never saw one stick of homework,” the Luther student said.When a homework checklist the Luther father sends to school with his son came back with a peculiar comment from a teacher, Justin decided to take action.
The teacher’s comment on the homework checklist reads: “Seriously! Are we going to continue doing this the rest of the year?”"I want my son to be able to do algebra. I want him to know about Oklahoma history. I want him to know about literature. These are things that he needs to be prepared for, for life,” Justin said.
He added that he has talked with Luther High School Principal Jan Scheffler, who did not have time to talk with Eyewitness News 5 on Tuesday. She said standard policy is for all movies to be approved by school authorities before being shown to students.
When asked whether she approved of movies like “Saving Private Ryan,” “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Spider Man 3,” Scheffler said she is looking into it.Officials with the Oklahoma Department of Education are also investigating the allegations, noting that by law, students should receive at least six hours of instruction per day.Any movies watched should be relevant to the course, education officials said.
