“New atheism” was the surprise political hit of 2007. God-bashing books by Hitchens, Dawkins and other thinkers who come out in a rash when they hear the word “religion” flew out of the bookshops. Osama bin Laden warned Iraqs Sunni Arabs against fighting al-Qaida and vowed to expand the terror groups holy war to Israel in a new audiotape Saturday, threatening “blood for blood, destruction for destruction.”

A Catholic priest was hospitalized Sunday after being stabbed, the Italian Embassy in Ankara said, in the latest in a string of attacks on Christians in Turkey. Police said they had detained the suspected attacker.
