Ben & Jerry’s Renames Ice Cream to Support Gay Marriage

Vermont ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s has temporarily renamed their popular “Chubby Hubby” ice cream to “Hubby Hubby” to show the company’s support for the legalization of same-sex “marriage” in the state.
On September 1 same-sex “marriages” began to be performed in Vermont after the state legally redefined marriage to include homosexuals last April.
The repackaged ice cream tub features a caricature of two men getting “married” and will be available only in Vermont during September, after which the packaging will return to normal.
A press release states that the company has partnered with Freedom to Marry, a homosexual rights group, “to raise awareness of the importance of marriage equality and to encourage other states to follow the blazing trails of Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, and Maine.”
“The legalization of marriage for gay and lesbian couples in Vermont is certainly a step in the right direction, and something worth celebrating with peace, love – and plenty of ice cream,” said Ben & Jerry’s CEO Walt Freese.
Ben and Jerry’s has a reputation for social activism and publicity stunts since being founded by two former hippies in Burlington, Vermont in 1978, and has maintained its promotion of homosexuality under the guise of “equal rights for all people” since the company was bought by food giant Unilever in 2000.
“From the very beginning of our 30 year history, we have supported equal rights for all people,” Freese said in the press release.
State Threatens Locals – Marry Gays Or Else
Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller is warning the county recorders’ offices in his state that workers must process “marriage” licenses for same-sex duos or face possible charges in a court of law.
“If necessary, we will explore legal actions to enforce and implement the court’s ruling, working with the Iowa Dept. of Public Health and county attorneys,” he warned on his website.
But an announcement today from a statewide pro-family organization and a public interest law firm with a reach that goes around the world means the issue of same-sex weddings eventually could end up back in court.
The statements from Miller relate to the state Supreme Court’s decision that Iowa must provide same-sex couples access to the state’s marriage processes.
Miller praised the decision as “clear and well-reasoned” and explained it is expected to take effect April 27, since court offices are closed tomorrow.
Gay Marriage Scandal Over Miss California

Miss California USA Carrie Prejean, of San Diego, did not capture the Miss USA crown on Sunday night and many speculate that her answer to a gay rights question might have cost her the title. Here is a transcript of the exchange:
Perez Hilton: “Vermont recently became the 4th state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit. Why or why not?”
Prejean: “Well, I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be between a man and a woman. Thank you very much.”
Warren’s Apology Damaging

A Washington, DC, pastor and outspoken opponent of same-sex “marriage” says California mega-church pastor Rick Warren has done “tremendous damage” by apologizing for his support last fall of California’s marriage protection amendment.
Rick Warren said Monday on CNN’s Larry King Live that he has “never been and never will be” an “anti-gay marriage activist,” and made a point to inform the program’s host that he apologized to his homosexual friends for comments he made in October to his church in support of Proposition 8 in California.
Bishop Harry Jackson, Jr., with the High Impact Leadership Coalition says he was very disappointed with Warren’s statements on CNN.
“This man who’s been called the next Billy Graham, who I really respect with all my heart and love what he’s doing in Africa, is falling into a trap that is emblematic of the problem that the entire church is facing in this generation,” Jackson states. “And that is that we love the applause of men more than we love the work of God and the gospel. Jesus…told us that we are to honor God first, and that we are not to fear men but we’re to fear God.”
Bishop JacksonJackson argues that Warren was “aiding and abetting a deception around what kind of stance the Bible calls Christians to take” by telling Larry King that opposing the recent Iowa Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage was “not his agenda.”
“He is the author of The Purpose Driven Life book,” Jackson notes, “and therefore people are going to think, ‘Well, this is not on my mission — it’s not on my purpose. I don’t have to stand for truth.’
“Therefore, his defection — in terms of his stance on this issue — [and] his backsliding on this issue, becomes of tremendous damage to the strength of the church in this position.”
Gay Marriages To Begin In Iowa April 24

Gay marriage, seemingly the province of the nation’s two coasts, is just weeks away from becoming a reality in the heartland and apparently it will be years before social conservatives have a chance to stop it.
The Iowa Supreme Court on Friday unanimously upheld a lower-court ruling that rejected a state law restricting marriage to a union between a man and woman. Now gays and lesbians may exchange vows as soon as April 24 following the landmark decision.
The county attorney who defended the law said he would not seek a rehearing. The only recourse for opponents appeared to be a constitutional amendment, which couldn’t get on the ballot until 2012 at the earliest.
“I would say the mood is one of mourning right now in a lot of ways,” said a dejected Bryan English, spokesman for the Iowa Family Policy Center, a conservative group that opposes same-sex marriage.
In the meantime, same-sex marriage opponents may try to enact residency requirements for marriage so that gays and lesbians from across the country could not travel to Iowa to wed.
U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, urged the Legislature to do so, saying he feared without residency requirements Iowa would “become the gay marriage mecca.”

School Takes 1st-graders To See Lesbian Teacher Wed

A public school in San Francisco bused 18 first-graders to City Hall yesterday, so the youngsters could scatter rose petals in celebration of their lesbian teacher’s wedding.
The students, from Creative Arts Charter School, waited on the steps for their teacher with bags of pink rose petals, bottles of bubbles and, at least for some, with political buttons asking Californians to vote down Proposition 8, a ballot measure that seeks to define marriage in the state as a union between one man and one woman.
“She’s a really nice teacher. She’s the best,” 6-year-old Chava Novogrodsky-Godt told the San Francisco Chronicle, wearing a “No on 8″ button on her shirt. “I want her to have a good wedding.”
